SBI is all set to conduct the Mains exam for recruitment of Probationary officer (PO) for around 2200 post on 31st July. The prelims results are out and everybody is busy giving finishing touches to their preparation for the exam.

New Pattern of SBI PO Mains
SBI has introduced few changes in the new pattern of the mains examination as announced in the advertisement:
• Few Numbers of questions: SBI has reduced the overall number of questions in the mains exam paper as the paper will contain 155 questions instead of the normal 200 questions.
• Time Allotment for every section: SBI has introduced a unique system of time allotment for the mains examination as it has limited the time for every section itself thereby giving the candidates less option to allot time as per his or her convenience. The time limits allotted are 60 minutes for reasoning section, 45 minutes for quant section, 40 minutes for English and 30 minutes for general awareness section. You have to attempt the individual sections as per this.
• Number of questions changed in different sections: Number of questions for different sections has changed this time instead of 50 questions for each section. Now, the reasoning section will have 45 questions, quant will have 35 questions, English will have 35 questions and general awareness will have 40 questions.
• Marks Allotment changed: The marks allotted for each section have also changed with 60 marks each for both quant and reasoning section whereas 40 marks each for the rest of the two sections i.e. English and General Awareness.
Tips to Prepare for SBI PO Mains
As per the new pattern of the examination, certain modifications are required in your preparation strategy in order to crack this exam though the basic things remain the same:
• Learn the basics: This is a common thing which you have to keep in mind for whatever exam you are appearing for. Once you are acquainted with the basics, you have a very strong base depending on which you can build your preparation.
• Give stress to quant: This is required since this section has less number of questions but the marks allotment is the highest. So, if you are good at it, you will be able to easily score more than the others.
• Practice according to the given time allotment: This will be difficult for aspirants initially since they have their own time management techniques. But, you have to shift towards this since in examination, you have to face this.
• Go for mock tests: This helps increasing your speed along with your accuracy which is the two important tools for success in any bank examination. Mock tests give you the analysis of your strength and weakness based on which you can fine tune your preparation.
• Take the change positively: The change is good in a few respects since the total number of questions has reduced. It will make the candidates solve fewer questions and with SBI allotting time, everybody has the same situation in front of him or her thereby giving a unique level playing field to everybody.
